When planning a wedding, it is important to set aside time to focus on looking your absolute best on the wedding day.  As you and the wedding party will be the focus of attention, a degree of organization is required to polish your appearance and avoid any last minute problems.

6 Months Before Your Wedding or after you purchase your gown

If you’d like to lose weigh before your wedding set a weight loss goal to meet before your dress fittings begin.  Consult your doctor/nutritionist to develop a nutrition and fitness plan.  If you are not planning to meet with a nutrition, stick to specific goals, like incorporating more who grains and fruit and veggies into every meal.

If you don’t already, start exercising. Try practicing yoga; the postures build strength and are great tension relievers as well.  You’ll look great, feel better and be less stressed out.

3-4 Months Before Your Wedding

Discuss with your hairstylist how you want your hair on the wedding day.  Take pictures of hairstyles you like. Bring your veil and headpiece and photos of your dress. Do a dry run. Make the appointments for the rehearsal/wedding days.

Make an appointment with your eye doctor.  Make certain your prescription is correct.  Consider getting a new frame to compliment your outfit. Or get fit with contact lenses.  This is not the time to wear your old frame.  Consider getting a dressy frame for the big day.  You might want to consider getting fit with contact lenses so your eyes “pop” in the photos. If you currently wear contacts, order a supply so you have enough on hand for the wedding and honeymoon.

Suggest to the mother of the bride and mother of the groom that they update their glasses.

Make consultation appointment with potential makeup artists.  Tell your makeup artist if you wear contact lenses.  Be certain the make is hypo-allergic and compatible with contact lenses. If you do not plan on hiring a pro, get a makeover at a department store counter and purchase the products you need now so you have time to practice.

Have your gown altered.

2 Weeks Before Your Wedding.

Get your final haircut or trim.  No experimenting here, just stick to the look you love.

Exfoliate your skin, especially elbows, hands and feet.

1 Day Before Your Wedding

Have a professional pedicure and manicure.

Pack your suitcase.  Be certain to include an emergency beauty kit of items you shouldn’t leave home without.

Make certain you have re-moisture drops that are compatible with your contacts for your and your guest. You probably will be in your contacts for a longer than normal period of time.   Also, the crying that will occur that day dries out contact lenses and makes them more uncomfortable.  Consult with the groom to make certain he has pack enough contacts and solution for the honeymoon. Don’t forget your sunglasses!
